This Is the Secret to Success
Most people don’t realize this, but everything that you have in your life right now is because of your brain; it’s all the thoughts in your mind. Your thoughts lead to your feelings, your feelings guide your attitude, your attitude dictates your behavior, and your actions become your results.
Do you want to change your life? If you want to make more money, feel better about yourself, have more confidence, build your business, or transform your body, you need to get control of this one thing right here—your mind.
What Is Your “Why”?
You’ve got to ask yourself, “What’s my ‘why’? What is that one deep reason I want to build a business?” A lot of people think they want to build a business because of money—essentially pieces of paper. People don’t want pieces of paper. They think they want that, but what they want is the reason. It is what the money can give them. That’s the reason.
They don’t want the pieces of paper; they want to be able to take care of their family. They want security. They want to be able to make a difference and contribute. They want the freedom that money gives.
People don’t want to lose weight just so they can step on a scale and see that the number says 177 instead of 209. They want the feelings that come along with that. They want to feel good. They want to have more energy. They want that energy to be able to spend more time with their kids and their friends. They want to play sports or live a longer life.
Control Your Mind
You can take all the actions in the world that are aligned with success, but if you don’t have control of your mind, if you don’t believe in yourself, if you don’t understand what your values are, if you don’t understand what your driving force is, then what will continue inspiring you to get up in the morning? You are never going to change your life that way.
Over the last year I had been making leaps and bounds in terms of progress in my business. I’d made more money than I’ve ever made this year, I’ve gotten into better shape than I’ve ever been this year. I felt better about myself. I put systems in place. I’ve hired more people. Everything is just changing in front of my eyes. I don’t say this to brag or boast or impress you because there are people out there still who have lives that I dream of. I’m still striving, and I’m still learning.
And I am still getting in control of my mind. I’m educating myself every single day. I’m reading books. I’ve hired a life coach. I’m taking action. I’m masterminding with people. I’m networking. And I really, really do believe in myself.
Reprogramming Your Life
I’m reprogramming my mind in terms of what I believe. When a negative thought comes in my mind—“You’re not good enough to make that much money”; “You’re going to give up with your weight loss”—I immediately cut that off and reprogram my mind with a different thought. Maybe sometimes I think to myself, “Oh, I'm a slob. My house is unorganized.” And then I’ll say to myself, “No. My house is always organized, and it’s always clean.” I keep repeating it, and over time the house gets clean.
You need to get control of your self-talk—what you say to yourself and how you believe. You have to be conscious of the driving forces in your life. Before you’re going to change anything in your life, you’ve got to change yourself.
It All Begins with Your Thoughts
You can’t change the outside world without changing your thoughts. Because once you change your thoughts, you change your feelings. When you change your feelings, you change your attitude. When you have a different attitude, you have a different outlook on life. When you see things differently, you believe in yourself. And when you believe in yourself, you start taking actions in all different areas of life.
The amazing thing about life and taking action is if you do certain things, if you model success, you’re going to get the results. But getting that result and getting to that outcome all starts with your mind. It’s the thoughts, the feelings, the attitudes, the behaviors, and the actions that lead to the results. Really at the end of the day, work on yourself harder than you work on anything else. Go make it happen.
