RPS #086 – How I Use Gratitude To Overcome Depression & Laziness In My Online Business And Life

How I Use Gratitude to Overcome Depression & Laziness in my Online Business and Life

I’m the kind of guy who tries to keep motivated. But you know what? Some days I am just not feeling it. Sometimes I am not feeling up to par. Maybe I don’t feel like going to the gym. Maybe I don’t feel like working. Maybe I don’t feel like making videos. Maybe I don’t even feel like doing the things I really enjoy deep down inside, things that give me purpose.

And from time to time, I think we’re all going to feel that way when we just don’t feel like doing anything. I think it’s normal. The key is to find a strategy to get yourself out of that. One of the things I like to do—works like a charm every single time—is slow down, take a deep breath, get by myself, and think about some of the things I’m grateful for.

Being in a place of gratitude and thankfulness is an amazing way to find the meaning in life, to rebuild your energy and your purpose. It will get you moving in the right direction again, whether it’s working on your business or going to the gym to lose weight or just dealing with a hard time in your life.

A Talk with Yourself about Gratitude
I’ll explain how I do the exercise. Say today’s been a little off for me. I just haven't felt super motivated. I know that it’s a normal thing everyone goes through, but knowing that doesn’t make it easier at the moment. I remind myself that what determines winners versus losers—the people who get up and make things happen versus those who don’t—is how they control their minds. So I get down to talking myself through gratitude.

I’m grateful for anyone who watches my YouTube videos. I’m thankful for the opportunity to have a platform that allows me to be able to share the different things that are going on in my life: self-development, motivation, business, finances. I love being able to interview people and add value to the reselling community. It’s been amazing not only helping people, but building a business out of my YouTube channel. I’m just really grateful to be able to serve others.

I also appreciate the opportunity to have the internet. Just think about it. What would I be doing if I had been born 70 or 80 years ago? There would be no internet. I probably would have worked a normal job, clocking in, clocking out. I’m grateful to be able to have the freedom to travel and sell things online and do E-commerce. The internet is an amazing opportunity. I’m so lucky to be able to experience the freedom I have.

Another thing I’m thankful for is living in America. I am indebted to capitalism, to being able to build businesses. I have freedom. I get to do pretty much what I want. And even though I’d prefer a warmer climate, I’m grateful for Connecticut. It’s a safe place. I live in a nice apartment in a wonderful neighborhood. I get to live near my family.

Another thing I’m grateful for is the money that’s flowing into my life. This has been an awesome year. I’ve made more money than I’ve ever made my entire life by actually helping people and making a difference and doing things that I love. It feels really, really good. I have the money and freedom to travel, to buy something here or there, or to take my mother out to dinner. I am able to enjoy life without having to worry how I’m going to pay my bills. I can invest in a life coach. I’ve been enjoying going to my life coach every single week, learning and growing and developing myself. I’m really thankful for the money because it has allowed me to invest in going to a gym.

And that money that has been coming in from these businesses that I’m building has allowed me to hire a personal trainer. I so appreciate Noah, my personal trainer, being able to work out with him three times a week. I’m grateful for my body and for all the energy it gives me not only to be a shining light for other people, to serve and help and make a difference, but also just to have more energy, to feel better, have more confidence, have more self-esteem. I’m so lucky and so thankful to have a healthy body, to be able to work out, because I know there are so many people who have physical and health issues that make it hard to get out and be active and exercise and get in shape.

Today’s the Day; Today Is Always the Day
When I go through all that I’m thankful for, I then know that today’s a great opportunity to make the most out of the opportunities that I have. There are people out there who are suffering, who have medical problems, who have financial problems. So I’m going to make the best I can out of the day that has been gifted me.

Now you talk to yourself about what you are grateful for. I know you will eventually get to the point where you will get out of your chair to go out there and crush it.
