MOTIVATION…Read This if You Feel Like Giving Up in Your Business
Do you need some motivation? I want to talk about the difference between the people who succeed on eBay, Amazon, craigslist, Etsy, and the reselling business versus the people who don’t. There is one distinct characteristic that the successful people have over the people who just don’t make it. This is something that we’re all going to have to deal with, and this key distinction is huge.
What exactly am I trying to describe right here? The people who succeed, who make it, who thrive in business, who are in business 30 years down the road, who continue to grow, all have something in common.
Facing Adversity
The one thing that they have over the people who quit, who give up, who aren’t in business anymore, is when they get knocked down—when they get a return, or they get a negative claim against them, or a package gets lost or damaged, or they source an item and when they bring it home it's broken—they get back up again. That’s the key. They never quit.
One thing I realized is that the winners actually do get knocked down a lot. But a lot of the people who want to be successful aren’t willing to take a punch to the face. They are not willing to put themselves on the line to get hit with that return or make a mistake or make an error. They’re trying to be perfect.
And the key distinction is really that the successful people are willing to go for it and make it happen and take a punch and get knocked down, and they never give up.
You Don’t Need Perfection, Just Persistence
You don’t have to be the quickest, the fastest, and the most talented. You don’t have to be the smartest guy. You don’t have to know everything. But if you’re willing to work hard on a daily basis, put in work, grind, educate yourself, and, when something goes wrong, don’t beat yourself up, then you will get back up again and learn from your mistakes. The winners get knocked down all the time, but they’re getting back up again.
Maybe you’re dealing with a situation right now in your business—whether you’re dealing with something that has to do with taxes, and you’re just super overwhelmed, and you begin to think you can’t take this, you want to give up, and it was so much easier just collecting a check. Or maybe you’re selling on Amazon and dealing with a suspension right now. Maybe you got an inauthentic claim against you or maybe you didn’t realize that canceling all those orders was going to result in a suspension. Maybe you’re dealing with something on eBay right now. The truth is that everyone is dealing with something.
Keep Moving Forward
If you’re dealing with something that’s bringing you down, just know you have got to keep moving forward. Keep growing; keep pushing forward. Anyone who has ever been successful and amassed a large amount of wealth or accomplished something difficult in their lives—they kept pushing.
So keep moving forward. I need to remind myself this all the time too. I deal with issues as well, and I keep telling myself just keep moving forward, keep pushing, keep grinding, I’m going to get to the end of the tunnel. There is light at the end of the tunnel.
Don’t Quit Right Before You Make It
So many people give up right before they make it. They don’t even realize it. It’s like they’ve been digging and digging and digging for gold hundreds of feet, thousands of feet, and the gold is a foot away, and they give up. And that hurts me the most—it really does.
I talk to a lot of people, even friends of mine who gave up, and I think to myself, “You were there. You were there. You were so close if you would have just kept going.”
If you’re on the brink of quitting or feel as though you’re failing, just keep going. Because you want to know what? Success may be just a foot away or right around the corner.
